Inspired by something I’d pinned onto my ‘Things to make’ board on Pinterest, I decided to use up some old nail varnish and get creative one evening. Here’s the result - a rainbow dotty tumbler to store nice things like buttons on my sewing shelf.
This was so easy to make. You can follow Zandi from Radical Possibility’s instructions here, or alternatively, my instructions below:
Get yourself a tumbler. Ikea have nice and cheap ones
Find some old nail varnish (or new like me… my sister will go nuts that I’ve used OPI for a craft project… but it’s soooo pretty!)
Turn the tumbler upside down on newspaper
Dot on your first colour however you like. Cover the bottom and up the sides a little
Carry on with all the other colours. You might have to go back to colours again to add more dots. You might need to let it dry between colours too… depends if you’ve OCD
Keep going until you get the desired effect
Coat in clear nail varnish to seal or buy some proper glass varnish on ebay if you don’t want to do it the shortcut way
Voila!
Now, what else can I cover in nail varnish for the sake of craft…?
